Parking safety has become an increasingly important issue in the Gold Coast, driven by the region’s rapid growth in tourism, business, and residential developments. In 2025, the focus on parking safety reflects a broader commitment to community security, traffic efficiency, and responsible urban living. Beyond simply finding a parking space, safety concerns now encompass vehicle theft, vandalism, and the risks associated with parking in poorly lit or high-traffic areas, making vigilance essential for both drivers and pedestrians.
To address these challenges, the City of Gold Coast has enhanced enforcement and public safety measures under its Road Safety Plan 2021–2026. One of the key initiatives includes the introduction of ‘Park Safe’ technology, featuring GPS-enabled vehicles and camera systems that provide real-time monitoring to detect illegal parking, misuse of disabled parking bays, and obstruction of driveways or critical access points.
Complementing this, the new City Parking Plan aims to improve parking availability, pricing management, and overall compliance and safety throughout the region. Together, these efforts contribute to a safer, more accessible, and well-organised parking environment that supports the city’s growing community and visitors alike.
